10.1 million children walk to school every day in South Africa

Most of our school-going children live in rural towns and villages and do not have school shoes.  In cases where they do, their shoes are worn out and are a source of shame.

With winter around the corner, many of our children will still walk to school, sometimes with papers and plastics to insulate their feet.

But when it is too cold, they will rather stay at home and miss out on school.

Calling active citizens to make a difference

Most people wait for the government to do something about the problems they see. Who knows how long that will take.  Active citizens choose to be part of the solution.

This is a call to all the active citizens of South Africa to contribute towards putting a fresh pair of school shoes on the feet of 10,000 young South African.

This is especially important with winter around the corner.

From Recycled Plastic to Beautiful School Shoes

Barefoot No More™ is a registered public benefit organisation, established in 2011.

They provide school shoes from a unique, patent-pending process that recycles various plastics and petrochemical byproducts to produce ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) foam.

The shoes are manufactured here in South Africa, which provides lots of room for employment opportunities as demand grows.

The distinctive characteristic of our school shoes include that they are soft (feel like Crocs), shock absorbent, will stretch to accommodate a growing foot (while remaining perfectly comfortable), do not cause blisters, do not require shoe polish, are waterproof, washable and are fully recyclable.
